Privacy Policy — Smart Blur

Smart Blur is a Chrome extension that blurs and redacts personally identifiable information (PII) on web pages. This policy describes how we handle information in relation to the extension.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect, transmit, or store:

Content of web pages you visit
Any personally identifiable information (PII) from those pages
Browsing history or usage analytics

All detection and blurring runs entirely in your browser. No page content is sent to our servers.

Data stored locally on your device

The extension may store the following only on your device (using Chrome’s storage):

Your settings (e.g. blur intensity, keywords, regex patterns, theme, panel position)
Pro subscription status (if you use the optional Pro upgrade)
Phrases you mark as “not PII” (used so the AI does not blur them again)
Per-page blur preferences you save (e.g. keywords or selections for specific URLs)

This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.

How we use local data

Local data is used only to provide the extension’s features: applying your blur preferences, remembering settings, and enabling Pro features when applicable.

Third-party services

Optional Pro payment (upgrade, “Already paid?”) is handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe. Their privacy policies apply to payment and account data. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the extension after changes means you accept the updated policy.
